Magnify Your Curiosity!

Have you ever observed the tiny creatures in your gardens and ponds—tadpoles, worms, water bugs, spiders, ladybirds, ants and so many more?
Ever been intrigued by a line of termites making their way through a log?
What if you could look at this microscopic world with a tool that can fit in your pocket?
Well, that’s what you can do and much more with the Foldscope!

Unfold Your Interests With Science That’s Accessible!

The Foldscope is a portable & versatile microscope made out of water-proof paper that magnifies the wonders of the microscopic world, without the bulk and expense of a conventional microscope.

Invented by Prof. Manu Prakash and Dr. Jim Cybulski at Stanford University, the foldscope has a magnification of 140X and can visualize microorganisms as well as larger samples like insects, plants, fabrics and tissues.

All you need is 10 seconds to set it up and voila, you are all set to explore the microcosmos!

What Would You Like To Explore?

Foldscope combines low-cost materials with precision optics to create inexpensive microscopes that are affordable for communities worldwide.

Foldscope can also attach to mobile phones for imaging.

Foldscope’s mission is to make science and STEM education equitable and accessible for everyone.

With such versatility, the possibilities are endless!
